I have a sordid vision seared into my brain: a slack, spindly old creep sat, straining, on the loo in the sickly light of a street lamp through coloured glass, in his ragged and stained 3 piece tweed pyjamas, pants pooled round his blue feet, bent double peering at the portable typewriter on the marble floor.

Alternating between frotting frantically between his shrunken thighs and tapping away with his toes on the keys, unsure whether self gratification or cruel giggles will cure his insomnia or fill the gaping void.

On the wall behind him is an arrangement of photographic portraits – Diana Spencer, Adolf Hitler, Jesus and a Sasquatch arm in arm – all signed: to AN with love.

A tall pile of books in the corner – unopened – just too much bother.

So many of us have been here before.

Mail Online. On this occassion – A N Wilson.

If you’ve seen the post I’m sorry – brillo pads can’t scrub your eyeballs.
If you haven’t – don’t pollute your brain or give them the clicks.

Matt Blewit’s post on Facebook is spot on.

And so many of the comments too.

But this creep has never ever bothered to check his facts – that’s for little people; he can never resist, he revels in, being cruel – because it’s funny; he is a hack, hired to write click-bait, behind the mask of a man of letters.
He’s a racist, misogynist, homophobic, rambling fantasist and we wouldn’t care less.
He’s wrong and wilfully ignorant and even dangerously cruel but dignified silence might be called for.

But …

He used a photo of our friends to illustrate his ranting screed.
Human sacrifice and scary Africans, Nazis and political magicians – guilt by association and proximity and sly innuendo.

He took a real community’s culture, identity, heritage and future and twisted them to make a totally unserious but very damaging performance.

He sets up mumbo jumbo against the fixed moral code of a church and a ruling class which have periodically raped and ravaged the world and its peoples.

But – can’t you take a joke, Snowflake?

Get bent!

We’re proud to be a small part of such a vibrant, living, welcoming community and if young people are indeed looking for something to belong to and embrace, they could do worse than Guize Dance in Penzance at Montol.

We’re not sure that any publicity is better than none, we’re not sure that we’re not taking the bait but we are sure you might have opinions on this – maybe we should channel our rage – maybe he picked the wrong target.
